Devon is a stunning county in the South West of England. It has long been a favourite holiday destination for many people who visit this area for its unspoiled coastline, rolling hills and traditional market towns. There are many attractions to enjoy in Devon, but one of the most popular is Dartmoor National Park. This vast expanse covers much of Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin Moor.
There are 5 designated Areas of Oustanding Natural Beauty (AONB) - North Devon Coasts, East Devon and South Devon are wholly within Devon while Tamar Valley and Blackdown Hills are cross-boundary.

The South West Coast Path is a National Trail that stretches for 630 miles, making it England's longest waymarked long-distance footpath.
The South West Path runs from Minehead in Somerset, along the coasts of Devon and Cornwall, to Poole Harbour in Dorset.
It is very popular with walkers, cyclists, horse riders, and wildlife enthusiasts. Expect the path to be rugged in some places but do not worry - there are plenty of pubs with outdoor seating for when you need a break!
When you're staying in a new area it's always fun to taste local food and drink specialities. And when you think of Devon you think of cream teas and cider (though perhaps not at the same time!).

But the age old question is still debated today (mainly between Devonshire folk and those across the border in Cornwall) - Is it cream first and then jam, or jam first topped with cream?
Well, if you're in Devon then there's only one way to prepare a Devon scone, split the scone in two, cover each half with clotted cream, and then add strawberry jam on top.
This is in contrast to the Cornwall way, split the scone in two, spread the jam and then add a spoonful of clotted cream - this is because they would argue that jam smothers the taste of the cream when applied the other way round.
