During the day, explore Crickhowell Castle Ruins. Climb its ancient steps and you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views over the Usk Valley. In the evening, open a bottle of wine by the fire pit on the cottage’s terrace and take a seat to enjoy the beautiful hill views. Step inside and you’ll be greeted by an inviting open-plan kitchen/diner area.

Its unique bohemian decor will immediately catch your eye. Climb the historic stone steps up to the vaulted sitting room and take a moment to relax in front of the wood burner before heading back to the rustic kitchen area to rustle up some dinner. Host a sociable meal at the dining table. Alternatively, head outside to the terrace to enjoy a BBQ feast while taking in the uninterrupted views of Black Mountains.

After dinner, relax in the rustic shared wood fired sauna or head to the study and lose yourself in a good book. At the end of the day, make your way upstairs and you’ll find a lovely double bedroom. The sitting room also serves as an extra bedroom that features a single bed with a pull-out trundle bed. Spend a pleasant afternoon taking in the lively atmosphere of Crickhowell’s High Street (3.5 miles).
