However, the famous Tintagel (3 miles) is undeniably the main attraction of the area. This breathtaking village, set high on the cliffs of North Cornwall, offers dramatic sea views, mysterious Arthurian legends to explore, and a new 60-metre footbridge connecting the mainland to the island on which the spectacular Tintagel Castle can be found.

There's even fun to be had down at sea level thanks to the intriguing Merlin's Cave. Elsewhere, there are plenty of traditional Cornish fishing ports to enjoy, such as Boscastle (5.5 miles) and Port Isaac (9 miles) – where TV's Doc Martin was filmed!
