Spend summer evenings in the enclosed courtyard garden sizzling up the BBQ, or head into Bude (8 miles) where there are plenty of restaurants to suit everyone's tastes.

Get lost in the maze and secret gardens at Hidden Valley Discovery Park (13 miles) and discover the weird and wonderful in the Forbidden Mansion. The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic (12 miles) will delight older children, while the younger ones might prefer a trip to Trethorne Leisure Park (13 miles) where there are play areas, crazy golf, paddle boats and animal petting sessions.

Just a few miles from Tintagel Castle, St Nectan's Glen (14.5 miles) is a magical waterfall that is well worth a visit; there's a meditation room where you can go to reflect on the beauty of nature.
