When tummies start to rumble, head to the characterful kitchen/diner where you'll find everything you need to feed a crowd including a range oven and a farmhouse-style dining table.

Enjoy a gentle stroll at the charmingly named Giggle Alley Japanese Garden (0.2 miles) or set off to explore the multitude of trails from gentle fell walks to the challenging trek up England's highest peak, Scafell Pike (9 miles).

For a day at the coast, hop on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, affectionately known as ‘La'al Ratty' to the coastal village of Ravenglass (6 miles).
