A little further afield, you can immerse yourselves in the dramatic scenery of Wastwater with views across to Scafell or, heading north, you can discover picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake.

For families, Whinlatter Forest Park has a range of activities on offer, as well as walking and cycling trails through the trees. You also have lots of towns to enjoy nearby, such as Cockermouth (7.5 miles), Whitehaven on the coast and popular tourist spot, Keswick and its outdoor specialist shops.
