Alternatively, spend a relaxing afternoon in the Georgian market town of Welshpool, wandering along the towpath of the Montgomery Canal or riding on the heritage steam train. For horticulture enthusiasts, a visit to the fabulous Italian Renaissance garden at Powis Castle, 12.5 miles away, is a must.
