This beautifully converted barn offers cosy and welcoming accommodation for solo travellers or couples, in a serene Lake District setting with walking trails all around. It's conveniently located only 7 miles from the M6, and with a lovely pub within 1 mile serving up local ales. On arrival, for an easy introduction to the area, head up Little Mell Fell (1 mile) or Gowbarrow Fell (2.5 miles) for a dog-friendly trip with lovely views.Originally part of a working farm, this property has been renovated to a high standard, and still features characterful exposed beams and lovely vaulted ceilings.
Two steps lead up to the front door, which opens into an open-plan living area with a large sofa and a TV. The adjoining farmhouse kitchen has an apron sink, attractive grey units and a dining table with space for two. The comfortable super-king-size bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. You'll have an outdoor space, too, which overlooks a meadow so you can enjoy a morning brew with a view.The vibrant village of Pooley Bridge (3 miles) features riverside coffee shops, pubs, restaurants, a bookshop, a post office and a bridge over the River Eamont.
Directly from the property, you can walk to the stunning Aira Force waterfalls (4.5 miles), part of the Ullswater Way. England's third-highest peak, the majestic Helvellyn, is just 7 miles away. If you're there at the right time, you'll even be able to ski nearby – the local club (15 miles) offers nine runs around 60 days of skiing in a good year! Or if pampering is more your thing, head for a facial or massage at the four-star hotel 1.5 miles from the property.
