Buxworth, Derbyshire - Sleeps 3

Accommodation details

A charming period cottage on a picturesque hillside 2 miles from the summit of Eccles Pike, a remarkable landform that offers views of Manchester and the Kinder Scout plateau. The dog-friendly cottage features a welcoming lounge/diner, a contemporary kitchen and a courtyard garden. It is the ideal fit for a small family or group keen to explore the many cultural, historical and natural attractions in and around Peak District National Park. The two-storey cottage dates back to the 1800s and retains numerous reminders of its past including exposed beams and an original fireplace.

It is located on a narrow country lane that winds its way past properties of a similar size and character, and its large, bright rooms boast contemporary soft furnishings. Entering via a small porch, the welcoming lounge/diner has a soothing feel and offers comfortable furniture towards the front of the house and a spacious dining table just behind.

There is a breakfast bar in the light and airy kitchen, and the bonus of a utility room beyond. A double bedroom and a single bedroom await upstairs. Both have been arranged to make the best use of space and offer plenty of room for belongings. A family bathroom stands just across the landing. The small enclosed courtyard is set over two levels, with steep stone steps, the upper portion home to a decked area with seating. Active guests are spoilt for choice, with plenty of walking and cycling routes available in the immediate area.

Bugsworth Basin, home of the Peak Forest Canal, lies less than 0.5 miles away, while the Peak Trail (1 mile) takes guests through the Peak District via steam train. Eccles Pike (2 miles) is a must for walkers, while Combs Reservoir (3 miles) is a great place for a picnic. Buxworth (within 0.5 miles) is handy for everything from a pint to kitchen essentials.
