Walk less than 2 miles to reach the sea and to pick up the South West Coast Path with its picturesque views. Enter this bijou yet cleverly designed holiday home and find yourselves in a sumptuous lounge/bedroom, featuring exposed stone walls, timber beams and a charming, vaulted ceiling. Light the wood burner in here to create a cosy ambience, watch the TV or a DVD and unwind on the soft seating with your book.

At the end of each busy day, tuck yourselves up in the comfortable double bed. From this room, take a step down into the hall, which leads to a beautiful bathroom, with a free-standing bath, and then a bright kitchen/diner. Prepare delicious, homecooked meals here and dine together at the table or out in the courtyard garden.

Light the BBQ in the evening, look out over the unfenced pond or take a stroll around the shared garden. Head into Bude for a few hours to dine out, potter in the shops and swim in the river, sea or pool at Summerleaze Beach. Lace up your hiking boots and walk out across Hartland Cornwall Heritage Coast for less than 2 miles to reach the sea.

Scramble down to Marsland Beach for a swim. The river here is the boundary between Devon and Cornwall. Head some 9.5 miles to spend time at Hartland Abbey, where you can visit the impressive house and wander its estate and grounds.
