After a day out exploring, step through the front door and relax in the lounge with its plump sofas, TV, and warming wood burner. When mealtime beckons, you'll find plenty of appliances in the kitchen to create delicious dinners then serve them at the sociable table with seating for five people. As the evening draws to an end, retire upstairs to bed.

Choose between a king-size bedroom with an additional single bed (perfect for young children) and a double bedroom. Enjoy lakeside walks along Coniston Water, try your hand at paddleboarding and kayaking, or bring your sailing boat. For a fun day out, jump on the Gondola Steam Yacht and cruise down the water.

Alternatively, head to the village of Coniston (1.5 miles) and explore the local shops, restaurants, and pubs. The village sits under the shadow of the Old Man of Coniston, a legendary fell offering plenty of challenging walking and cycling routes. More gentle walks can be found at Grizedale Forest (8 miles), a beautiful woodland with eight trails, park sculptures, and zip wires.
