Coniston, Cumbria - Sleeps 5
Accommodation details
Treat yourself to a holiday in Coniston. This flexible accommodation can house a mixed group of adventurers and their dogs. It's a gorgeous barn conversion with plenty of charm and quirks, located within a holiday complex, so it's easy to organise a bigger trip with more people if you like. As you walk into the property, you'll find a hallway with stairs leading up and down.
To one side, there's a cloakroom. Begin by going downstairs to the lower ground floor, where you'll see the bedrooms. There's one king-size room, and a flexible bedroom with room for three people across a double bed and a single bed. The single bed is tucked into an alcove for a cosy, fairy-tale feel.
This level also has a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. Return to the hallway, then go to the first floor. This is where the social spaces are, starting with a lounge. It has a wood burner for crisp evenings and a breakfast bar on one side which connects the room to the kitchen. The kitchen has plenty of great touches to elevate your stay, including a Dulce Gusto coffee machine.
Finally, there's a dining room with a table, so your group can eat together or clear it off and play board games. There's a front garden, enclosed by a wooden fence, with a picnic table for fine weather. You'll be staying in Coniston, a quiet village near Coniston Water. It's a haven for outdoorsy people, so bring your bikes, water sports gear and walking boots.
You can climb to The Old Man of Coniston (2.5 miles) or on rainy days take a trip to Wray Castle, a neo-Gothic National Trust Property with family-friendly activities. For a bustling town, try Bowness-on-Windermere (9.5 miles).
