This charming traditional cottage in the Yorkshire Dales offers a delightful rural retreat from which to explore this beautiful landscape. The cottage has lovely country views from the rear garden and is set in Bewerley, a peaceful village in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Just half a mile away lies the pretty town of Pateley Bridge, where you'll find excellent independent shops, while classic Dales villages, including Hebden (8.5 miles) and Grassington (10 miles), are within easy reach. This characterful 250-year-old cottage is attractively furnished, with a spacious farmhouse kitchen, housing a traditional dresser and country-style dining table.

For special occasions, celebrate in the charming, formal dining room. An open fire, comfortable sofas and ceiling beams create a cosy atmosphere in the lounge, with lovely views from a feature window. Upstairs, you'll find three inviting bedrooms, a double with an en-suite shower room, a twin and a triple, with bunk beds and a single bed.

A family bathroom completes the layout. Outside, a flagstone courtyard leads to the cottage entrance, while an enclosed garden to the rear has a large outdoor table and an idyllic view. The scenic Yorkes of Bewerley circular walk runs through the village and ancient woods, climbing up to the Yorkes – two stone columns – with wonderful views of Nidderdale.

Or you can visit the local riding centre for a peaceful explore on horseback. Not be missed in Pateley Bridge are England's oldest sweet shop, and the splendid Nidderdale Museum which opens a window onto the local history of the Dales. Wrap up warm to explore the remarkable caves and fascinating fossils in the atmospheric Stump Cross Caverns (4.5 miles).
