With the fossil-rich Lyme Regis just 3 miles to the west and the market town of Bridport 8 miles to the east, this property is perfectly located for coastal getaways with family. A stable door opens into the porch and lounge beyond, a welcoming room with beamed Victorian fireplace, cosy sofas, digital TV and iPod dock.

Rustle up delicious meals in the large kitchen/diner beyond, which is finished in a traditional style with cream units and a farmhouse table. Upstairs, an impressive master bedroom is a homely space to rest weary heads with pine floors, a king-size bed and sea glimpses. For those sunny afternoons, there’s no better place to enjoy an evening glass of wine than in the south-facing patio garden. For a peaceful walk, set out on foot from the cottage and follow the quiet lane up the hill to the National Trust nature reserve, with excellent views across Lyme Bay.

A short stroll in the opposite direction will bring you into the heart of Charmouth, home to a bakery, village stores and three popular pubs. Beyond the village, the Jurassic Coast is lined with picturesque bays, beaches and villages including Lyme Regis, Seatown (5.5 miles) and Seaton (11.5 miles).

Enjoy long walks along the South West Coast Path before a restorative bite to eat at one of this area’s fantastic pubs and beach cafes.
