For days at the coast, unspoilt Bridlington (20 miles) has beautiful beaches, family-friendly attractions and a rich history. Just south, the beach at Fraisthorpe is popular for water sports, while Hornsea (19 miles) has an iconic seafront promenade and streets dotted with independent shops, pubs and eateries.

Inland, the market towns of Driffield and Beverley are well worth a visit –13th-century Beverley Minster is regarded as one of Europe's finest Gothic churches.
