With plenty of space, relaxed interiors and styling, and sitting among peaceful countryside, this canine-friendly cottage is perfect for a group of friends or extended family looking for a quiet base close to York, with great walking, and wildlife nearby. It has an open-plan living space and a separate lounge, both with cosy wood burners, and a large, enclosed garden.

Every room has been tastefully designed with comfy furnishings and a laidback style that makes it feel homely and welcoming. Spend time together in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner where there's a Smart TV, sofas, a wood burner, and wooden floors. There's space for everyone at the dining table, with a bench and chairs, and a well-equipped kitchen, which has an electric Range oven and a Nespresso coffee machine.

The separate lounge is another relaxing space to watch the Smart TV, plus there's another wood burner and a sofa bed that sleeps two people if needed. The ground floor also houses a separate WC. It's upstairs to bed in the three spacious bedrooms, all with good storage: two super-king-size zip-and-links and a double.

One of the super-king-sizes has an en-suite shower room and there's also a family bathroom. Head outside to the fenced and hedged garden with big lawns and a patio with outdoor furniture for al fresco drinks, as well as secure bike storage. Wander to Pool Bridge (0.5 miles) to visit the cafe and pop-up sauna and go wild swimming.

Go for walks on the local footpaths and trails from the doorstep, and head to Wheldrake Woods (6.5 miles) for woodland walks. Venture into the Howardian Hills (18 miles) and North York Moors (18 miles), and visit York and explore Castle Howard (18 miles).
