Chepstow (6mls W), Wales - Sleeps 4

Accommodation details

This characterful two-storey cottage in the rural hamlet of Earlswood is perfect for families or friends looking for a relaxing holiday close to the Wye Valley. The lovely town of Chepstow is six miles west, offering a good selection of eateries to suit all tastes and steeped in history with a Norman castle overlooking the Wye River.

Walkers can enjoy the countryside along waymarked paths from your front door, including Wentwood, the largest ancient woodland in Wales. For cyclists, you can take advantage of the National Cycling Route (42), which runs past the house. This former schoolhouse offers a warm welcome and retains a country style that blends seamlessly with contemporary comforts to ensure a memorable stay.

The entrance leads into the kitchen/diner, where you can gather after a day of adventure and enjoy a hearty supper. The traditional kitchen has all the appliances you need to make meal preparation a breeze. The lounge is a relaxing space to sink into the comfortable seating and listen to a log crackling on the wood burner or watch the Smart TV.

Climb the stairs to the first floor, where you will find three bedrooms: one super-king-size, a double and a single room. A bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC completes the offer of this charming cottage. Outside, to the rear of the house, you'll find an enclosed garden with a table and chairs and a BBQ for a spot of al fresco dining.

The area is rich in culture, heritage, and natural beauty, with many castles, including Monmouth and Raglan, within 15 miles. The stunning Tintern Abbey is 9.5 miles where you can enjoy the tranquil setting and beauty of the Wye Valley. Walkers and mountain bikers will find plenty of trails for all ages and abilities in the nearby Forest of Dean (20 miles).
