Cwmdu, Powys - Sleeps 6

Accommodation details

Tucked in the foothills of the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons National Park, this warm and inviting cottage benefits from magnificent valley views and superb walking trails. Providing ample accommodation for six guests, this dog-friendly holiday home is ideal for families and friends who love the great outdoors.

Enjoy active days hiking, climbing, cycling, fishing and caving, then return here to ease weary muscles in the hot tub while bubbling beneath the stars. Arranged over two storeys in an L-shaped design, this rural retreat is warm and welcoming from the moment you step inside. The spacious kitchen/diner is an inviting, homely space where warm meals and stories can be shared after a day of adventure.

A couple of steps lead down to a spacious lounge where double aspect windows offer idyllic views and a warming wood burner keeps you toasty on chilly evenings. Make the most of clear nights in this International Dark Sky Reserve to sip a warm drink on the picnic bench or lay back in the hot tub with a glass of wine and stargaze.

Enjoy a restful night's sleep in the ground-floor twin bedroom, or the double or twin rooms set beneath the eaves on the first floor. A downstairs shower room and first-floor family bathroom ensure everybody can refresh with ease. With verdant countryside and the trails of the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons all around, this is a dream location for walkers and boasts some of the finest mountain biking trails in the country.

Set at the foot of an Iron Age hill fort, the market town of Crickhowell (6 miles) houses a 13th-century castle and an award-winning High Street. Pick up the Beacons Way in either direction or stroll along the banks of the River Usk. For bookish adventures, head to Hay-on-Wye (16 miles).
