Less than half a mile away, you'll find Irton Road rail station - steam through the Eskdale Valley on the La'al Ratty heritage railway towards coastal Ravenglass (6.5 miles) or Dalegarth (2.5 miles) near Boot (3 miles).

Discover coastal Drigg and Eskmeals Dunes Nature Reserve (7 miles), home to nesting seabirds and sandy beach walks - 18th-century shipwreck timber washed up here in 2018. And explore Muncaster Castle and Gardens with its maze, playground, and cafe; meet birds of pretty and see spring bluebell displays. Head through the farm gate towards the gravelled drive and step inside the porch of this historic cottage.

The timber-beamed hall leads through to the country-style living room with sumptuous furnishings, an original dresser with a date inscription and a charming wooden window seat.
