Duddon Valley, Cumbria - Sleeps 8

Accommodation details

Enjoying a wonderfully secluded location surrounded by glorious mountain views, this traditional cottage makes an inviting holiday getaway for up to eight guests. Dating back to the 18th century, the cottage has been tastefully furnished and beautifully decorated, with exposed timber beams, a charming conservatory, an open fire, roll-top freestanding bath, a private orchard and tranquil garden.

Set in the Duddon Valley, this lovely retreat is an ideal base for keen walkers, climbers and cyclists exploring the magical southern reaches of the Lake District. Featuring exposed wooden ceiling beams rumoured to be from a ship from the Spanish Armada, the cosy lounge is a great space for relaxing with a movie or a board game in front of the open fire.

The light-filled conservatory is perfect for curling up with a book, and the spacious kitchen/diner is ideal for cooking and sharing your favourite meals. Upstairs, the half-landing has a handy desk if you need to do some work, and a small bunk bedroom with a sloping ceiling, perfect for children. The first floor itself offers a characterful family bathroom and three delightful bedrooms: an en-suite king-size room with lovely views; a twin room with exposed beams; and a colourful en-suite king-size room.

Outside, the pretty enclosed garden has space for children and dogs to play, and the patio makes an ideal space for a BBQ. There's a handy outdoor tap for washing muddy paws, and the private orchard is a treat to explore. Exploring the Duddon Valley, you can walk to Devoke Water, Harter Fell, Stanley Ghyll Waterfall and Dunnerdale Forest (all within 6 miles).

Also nearby are Coniston Water, Hardknott Roman Fort, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway and the beach at Ravenglass (all within 12.5 miles).
