Longnor (1.7mls SW), Derbyshire - Sleeps 2
Accommodation details
Explore fabulous walking country from this secluded cottage. Set within peaceful countryside close to the Staffordshire village of Longnor, it is perfect for couples or a small family. Through the low-threshold doorway of this traditional stone cottage you'll find a comfortable lounge with a timber floor, exposed beams and a wood burner – just the place to snuggle up in after a day's hiking, cycling or riding through the spectacular landscapes of this part of the Peak District.
There's a spacious and well-equipped kitchen/diner, ideal for preparing tasty meals or picnics, from which there are stairs leading to the first floor. Here, you'll find a charming king-size bedroom, a sweet single bedroom tucked under a sloping ceiling with a skylight, and an elegant family bathroom.
A handy utility room with a washing machine can be accessed from outside. Take the external stone steps to your private patio, a gorgeous place to dine alfresco, and relish the fresh air and tranquillity. Within the farm's grounds there are other seating areas, which you're welcome to use, and also a small woodland.
In the ancient village of Longnor, less than 2 miles away, there is a choice of shops and traditional pubs, while the spa town of Buxton is just 10 miles, and Bakewell 12 miles. This moorland countryside is great base for a walking holiday, offering easy access to the famed twin hills of Chrome and Parkhouse (aka the Dragon's Back), as well as Dovedale and the High Peak region.
For something a little different, venture into Poole's Cavern & Buxton Country Park, 9 miles, for a tour of underground passages filled with stalactites and stalagmites, followed by a stroll through woodland trails to a panoramic hilltop viewpoint.
