Set across split levels of the historic 19th-century building, it is beautifully decorated and enjoys views out towards the harbour.

It also benefits from access to a shared, open lawn garden. Make your way into your private quarters and follow a few stairs down to the hall, where you can hang your coats and shuffle off your shoes. Enter the elegant lounge/kitchen/diner, with its exquisite decor and tasteful marine theme. Prepare delicious dinners for two in the compact kitchen, with its dark-painted units and wooden work surfaces, then sit down to a candle-lit dinner at the ornate table.

Cuddle up together on the sofa or window seat to catch up on your box set, plan the following day's activities or watch the boats coming into the harbour. The bathroom, where you have the choice of a refreshing shower or relaxing bath, is down a few more stairs, while the bedroom is off the hall. The impressive king-size bedroom, with its exposed brick chimney breast, has the same understated finish as the rest of the apartment.

Wander out to the shared lawn with a picnic rug and cold bottle of fizz on sunny days or stroll straight down to the beach. Enjoy the colourful shops, cafes and restaurants of West Bay or head into Bridport 1.5 miles away. Pick up the South West Coast Path and walk 9 miles to Lyme Regis for dramatic scenery and a good stretch of the legs.

Drive 16 miles to see the striking, long, shingle bank of Chesil Beach.
