The popular towns of Bakewell (5 miles) and Buxton (8.5 miles) are within easy reach, both are great starting points for walks including the Monsal Trail and Lathkill Dale, and there are beautiful walks throughout the Peak District. Trying the famous Bakewell pudding is a must, and there's lots to see in Buxton, home to an Opera House, Solomon's Temple, and Poole's Cavern.

Visit Chatsworth House (9 miles) and Haddon Hall (7 miles), and the Blake Mere Mermaid Pool with its fascinating legend (9 miles). You might also want to explore the disused Magpie Mine to understand the area's industrial past (2 miles).
