Outside is a large patio area with remarkable views of the gardens, and a large pasture beyond with friendly chickens who roam the grounds. Ashford in the Water is a chocolate-box village sitting on the northern bank of the River Wye as it winds through the Peak District. It’s an idyllic setting with a charming pub and some delightful walking routes.

The popular Monsal Trail runs by the village, a fantastic walking route taking in some of the very best sights of the Peak District. If you fancy trying your hand at paddleboarding or other water sports, there are plenty of opportunities around here too. For the real active kind, there are plenty of opportunities in the Peak District to try out bouldering, slab climbing, mountaineering and even caving.

The pretty town of Bakewell is just 1.5 miles down the road and Chatsworth House and Gardens are 5.5 miles.
