Pengenffordd, Powys - Sleeps 4

Accommodation details

A gorgeous two-storey barn in the tranquil surroundings of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park is ideal for couples or friends looking for a peaceful base to enjoy an active outdoor holiday. The property boasts wide-reaching, spectacular countryside views across the dramatic Black Mountains.

Walkers can explore walks in the Black Mountains a mile away, including a delightful trail up Mynydd-Troed or the Dragon's Back circular walk. This delightful property, with bold colours in the furnishings and decor, blends contemporary comfort with original character features. Step into a welcoming haven with a spacious entrance hall.

Access the heart of the home from the hall, an inviting open-plan living space that combines the lounge, kitchen, and diner. There is plenty of comfortable seating, a wood burner for a cosy atmosphere on chilly nights and a Smart TV to catch up on your favourite box sets. There are spectacular views out across the countryside.

The spacious kitchen has everything you need to cook up a storm and enjoy memorable meals at the dining table while planning the next day's adventure. An open-aspect staircase leads to the first-floor landing, which is spacious, with a cosy nook and two king-size bedrooms at either end of the barn. The stylish bathroom boasts a free-standing bath.

There is a separate shower room. Outside, enjoy the extensive gardens and sunken seating area, which provide a secluded retreat in which to bask in your natural surroundings and stargaze. Outdoor enthusiasts can head to Llangorse Lake (4 miles), which offers a range of water sports, opportunities to observe wildlife, and a chance to delve into the local history.

A lovely spot for a walk in nature is Pwll y Wrach nature reserve (4 miles). Alternatively, for a relaxing day, there are some lovely market towns nearby, such as Hay-on-Wye (11 miles), known as the 'Town of Books', Crickhowell (9 miles), and Brecon (11 miles). The Eco credentials for Storm Barn are impressive with 3 acres of land having been rewilded and planted with over 1,400 native trees.

Water is supplied from a private natural spring fitted with an ultraviolet filter ensuring all beneficial minerals remain in the water. The barn features under floor heating and hot water supplied by a ground source heat pump and solar panels. All rooms are decorated in non-toxic earthborn clay paints to allow the walls to breathe naturally.
