It is not uncommon to come across deer while taking a morning stroll. Lakeside itself is home to the famous Lakes Aquarium and Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway. Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly from the pier, and the views across the lake are breath-taking. Taking the road towards Hawkshead, guests will find themselves in the heart of the countryside that inspired Beatrix Potter to write her famous children’s books and a visit to her former home at Hill Top is a must.

Hawkshead itself is a lovely place to explore, with cobbled streets, tiny grammar school and stunning church.
