Belvoir Castle: A Grand English Castle Steeped in History

Standing proudly on a hilltop in Leicestershire, England, Belvoir Castle is a magnificent example of Regency architecture. Though its history stretches back much further, the current castle, designed by James Wyatt (famous also for his improvements at Windsor Castle), was built in the early 19th century for the 5th Duke and Duchess of Rutland. Despite its grand appearance, Belvoir Castle is not a true medieval castle, but rather a "faux historic" design, incorporating Gothic Revival elements into a more comfortable and luxurious living space.

Belvoir Castle remains the ancestral home of the Rutland family. Currently, Belvoir Castle is the home of Their Graces, the 11th Duke and Duchess of Rutland.

Visitors can explore the castle's stunning interiors, wander the extensive gardens and parkland, or have a bite to eat in the newly refurbished Aviary Tearoom. The castle has also found fame as a filming location, appearing in productions like "The Crown" and "The Da Vinci Code."
