For a meal out or to pick up some essentials, head into the market town of Ross-on-Wye (2 miles). Wander through the pine forests and ancient oak woodlands of the Forest of Dean (13 miles) and climb the trail to Symonds Yat Rock (9 miles) for far-reaching valley views.
