The romantic retreat has a cosy lounge with a wood burner effect gas fire to relax in front of after a long walk, as well as an enclosed garden with far-reaching countryside views that's ideal for four-legged guests. The traditional cottage offers a home-away-from-home stay, with exposed woodwork and neutral decor.

The welcoming lounge has a feature exposed beam running across the ceiling and an ornamental stone fireplace housing the wood burner effect gas fire. Snuggle up on the plump sofa together, to share a bottle of wine and watch a film on the TV/DVD. The double bedroom boasts delightful rural views and has an additional single bed if required.

Outside, dine at the outdoor table and chairs and take in your peaceful surroundings, admiring the views across the open fields to the fells beyond. Allonby has a long sand and shingle beach, backed by sand dunes. Enjoy wild walks along the shore or join the Cumbria Coastal Way which leads to the Scottish border.

This stretch of coast is treated to some truly breathtaking sunsets, so be sure to head down to the beach with a camera to capture some memorable moments in the golden hour. The majestic lake of Bassenthwaite makes a lovely day out. Wander along its western shores, admiring the spectacular reflections, before climbing Skiddaw to take in the panoramic views.

Finish your day with a trip to The Lakes Distillery to sample the artisan whiskies, gins, and vodkas.
